Not after.
Not when everything is perfect.
Not when you’ve lost the weight you hope to lose, or found
the love of your life, or landed your dream job, or finally
see the light at the end of whatever tunnel you’re walking
through.
Goodness is here — right where you are — in the
messy middle.
You can probably picture exactly where I’m sitting as I
write this. I’m in Pop’s wood shop, surrounded by wood
shavings, the occasional spider, and equipment I don’t
even pretend to understand. And everywhere I look? John
Deere green.
And in the middle of all that, I have a corner.
A little corner with my desk and laptop, my happy light, a
few therapy books, and my tea.
And I’m smiling, because this is not how I imagined my
writing nook would look in 2026.
Between my therapy and life coaching clients, my physical
fitness journey, the grandkids, aging parents who need
support, two extra adults, three kids, an extra cat and dog
who’ve moved in, the packing and unpacking, the
arranging and rearranging, the sorting and the throwing
out… life is a tad bit crazy right now.
And yet — I’m finding so much goodness, so much joy,
and so much peace in this transitional time.
Because I know that after the transition comes
beauty.
And I also know that peace and goodness can be found
right in the middle of the chaos.
When we sit around the crowded table and hold hands,
and my granddaughter offers a beautiful prayer of
thanksgiving — that’s goodness.
When my husband was recovering from minor surgery and
the boys stepped up to feed the chickens and take out the
trash — often without being asked — that’s goodness.
Even when I’m trying to drink my morning coffee in solitude
and the dogs are running and wrestling at my feet, driving
me a little nuts… it’s still goodness.
Wherever life has you right now, friend, remember this:
It’s a season.
No season lasts forever.
Every season has its trials and its difficult moments — but
there is always goodness woven through it.
Look for the goodness.
Name it.
Hold it close.
